Sailing and psychology are separate disciplines that hardly are seen together.
One of the first books on the argument Psychology of Sailing, was written by Michael Stadler in 1987, a very first attempt to move the focus from the technology and handling techniques to the human element involved in sailing.
Despite of that, very little material is available on the argument, even though there are many situations where psychology is applied in the sailing world.
Some of the topics we explore in this website:
Mental skills to boost competitive advantage in racing sailors
- Leadership and team building skills for professional crew and managers
- Learning and well being in educational and corporate settings, and with youth, disabilities
- Interviews with professional sailors and psychologist that aim to build bridges between the two worlds.
Culture research on full time sailors, aka liveaboard cruisers and ocean voyagers
