On Friday 16th April from 17 to 18 GMT, Kalina Stamenova and I will talk with Tessa Gordziejko. She is the 4th guest of our series and we will discuss about social dreaming and creativity.

I met Tessa on Creativity Jumpstart, a 7 week program I run last year. The course is aimed at unlocking and circulating creative energies within us. We learned that we had social dreaming experiences in common and she was happy to contribute to our series when I asked her to.

Tessa is a writer, performer, director, producer and dramaturg. As a climate activist, blogger and member of networks of artists she makes work about the climate crisis.

She has been participating in Social Dreaming and Visual Matrices for a few years now. She has been fascinated by how it feels similar to the early stages of creative production through associative working and accessing the ‘unthought’.

In 2019 Tessa was awarded a grant by Arts Council England to develop her creative practice, experimenting with deeper tools and methods for co-creation. She explored how artists and communities might use such techniques in collaborative dramaturgy and also how the individual writer can express a plurality of voices.

Whilst the events of 2020 have restricted the extent to which she could expand the activity, she has been hosting a group called The Art of Social Dreaming in regular matrices. The focus of this series is on creativity and they respond to the matrix and dream reflection dialogue with writing and images. Several theatre-makers attend the group. They have discussed how Social Dreaming informs, or may in future inform, theatre practice.
